The International Experience Canada Class allows nationals of 36 countries who are between 18 and 35 years old to gain valuable work experience in Canada. The program is designed to promote cultural exchange and international cooperation while providing participants with the opportunity to work and live in Canada temporarily.
There are three main categories under the International Experience Class:
- Working Holiday: Under this category eligible candidates could obtain an open work permit for up to 24 months, allowing them to work for any employer in Canada and travel freely during their stay.
- Young Professionals: Under this category candidates with a job offer in Canada can apply for a work permit that is usually valid for up to 12 months, which allows them to gain professional work experience in their field of expertise.
- International Co-op (Internship): Under this category students who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution outside Canada and wish to complete an internship or work placement in Canada can obtain a work permit for the duration of their internship, which must be a requirement of their academic program.
