The Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) is the document issued by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to permanent residents as proof of their immigration status.
The PR Card is issued for five years and must be presented at the port of entry, when returning from a trip, to demonstrate the right to re-enter the country and continue enjoying the rights of being a permanent resident.
To apply for the renewal of the PR Card, it must be demonstrated that one has been physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (two years) out of the last five years.
